Hospital Director Appointed To Spearhead Big Year For Southfields
One of the UK’s leading veterinary centres has geared up for a ground-breaking 2020 by appointing a hospital director to spearhead its dynamic plans for the year.
Daniel Hogan has been given the responsibility of leading the renowned Southfields Veterinary Specialists relocation into a new £11 million state-of-the-art home in Basildon, Essex.
It’s a major project with Southfields set to become one of the UK’s largest veterinary referral practices when it opens its new purpose-built premises this year.
Daniel, who has moved from his role as operations manager at Southfields, said: “It’s a very exciting time for us and a priority will be the move to our new site, which will be an amazing hub for specialist veterinary care, innovation and support for the wider profession.
“Our cutting-edge facilities will include a brand new imaging suite with, state-of-the-art equipment and a new linear accelerator, which will offer novel treatments for our cancer patients.
“As well as new equipment, there will be an enhanced medical and cardiology department, six wards offering incredible accommodation and rest areas for our patients, seven operating theatres – which will support our growing surgical teams, 15 consultation rooms plus recovery suites and lecture halls.
“There will be a dedicated ICU department, which will allow our medicine and ECC consultants to continue to offer exceptional medical treatment and critical care, and we’ll have separate cat and dog waiting and wellbeing areas for our patients and clients.
“We’ll also be creating a new training centre for our nurses, interns, residents and support teams as well as launching some new initiatives which at the moment must remain ‘top secret’ but will support our referring vets, clients and most importantly our patients.
“I’ll be working hard to prepare everyone for the move while also continuing to grow our team as we prepare to introduce new services to further extend our ability to deliver first class care and treatment.”
Daniel, a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) who joined Southfields in 2017, is currently completing a Chartered Management Institute Level 5 qualification in Strategic Leadership and the Edward Jenner Leadership qualifications (NHS). He also holds the A1/V1 Clinical Coach qualifications and Level 3 in British Sign Language.
He has spent his entire working life in the veterinary profession. After completing his A-levels, Daniel began a career as a Veterinary Nurse qualifying as an RVN in 2007.
Subsequent roles have included Head Nurse at a large 24-hour animal hospital in East London, Hospital and Regional Manager for a large veterinary group and Operations Manager and Academy Principal at a multi-disciplinary referral centre.
When he’s not at work, Daniel plays the drums in a band, enjoys staying active and spending time with his family and his dog, Trevor.
