Inglis Vets in Fife, Scotland are quickly establishing themselves a leading provider of graduate training courses and offer tailor made courses to prepare the newly graduated vets for life in practice.
In October 2012 Former Prime Minister Gordon Brown MP opened their purpose built graduate training centre in Cowdenbeath which saw them team up with Edinburgh Universities Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. The RCVS Tier 2 veterinary clinic offers a service to the local community for final year veterinary students to lead both consultations and surgical procedures. The local Fifers have welcomed this initiative to train students and even compliment them on the designated Facebook site.
Now the doors are open to graduates from around the country to work through the summer and receive expert supervision and the opportunity to perform consultations and surgery in a real life situation. Working in partnership with leading recruitment providers BVS vets there are placements available between the 27th May and 29th July. There are weekly and fortnightly courses available and there are now limited places available for each week.
Manager Alison Cowieson says “We are looking to provide a unique experience for the newly graduated vets and to gain experience and confidence whilst working under the supervision of an experienced vet. You will have a vet on hand to guide you through the more complicated procedures and our aim is to provide you with many surgical procedures per week and conduct lots of
consultations. Our courses are proving very popular and we would like to say thank you to the BVS vets for bringing their knowledge of the graduate market.”
In addition to the invaluable experience gained, it will also improve the suitability for finding future employment as a permanent or locum vet. You will receive written evidence of the completion of certain procedures and personal analysis of suitability which can only enhance your chances of securing your first position.
Recruitment Manager at the BVS, Scott Ashcroft
Recruitment Manager at the BVS, Scott Ashcroft says “These training courses have been tremendously well received and for a newly graduated vet looking for their first position this type of course can only be extremely beneficial. We work with a lot of new graduates looking to find work and being able to offer references for completing consults and surgery is exactly what practices are looking for. We are delighted to work with Inglis Vets, there are no other practices in the UK offering this type of service for newly graduated vets and it is a terrific stepping stone in to working life.”
The courses run from the 27th May until the 29th July and there are still limited vacancies available. For more information on the training courses and dates please email Alison Cowieson at [email protected]
