One of the UK’s fastest-growing veterinary groups’ continued commitment to sustainability secured it a new award at this year’s BVNA Congress.

Linnaeus was presented with the inaugural exhibitor sustainability award at the veterinary nursing industry’s blue riband event, which took place at the Telford International Centre from October 2 to 4.

The new award was set up to recognise an exceptional exhibitor which has embraced environmentally-responsible behaviour and sustainable work practices, both outside the event and during BVNA Congress.

Linnaeus’s environmental sustainability lead Ellie West gave a keynote lecture at the event to discuss how VNs can lead sustainability in veterinary practice, as well as an interactive session on sustainability in anaesthesia.

Ellie also published an article for the VN Congress Times on leading sustainability initiatives in practice, with Wear Referrals RVN Maren Junior.

Environmental initiatives launched by Linnaeus include removing nitrous oxide from use as an anaesthetic agent; a campaign to cut annual electricity consumption by up to 14 per cent and becoming the first veterinary group to partner with the Investors in the environment (iiE) accreditation scheme.

Kelly O’Neil, events manager for Linnaeus, said: “It was amazing to win this new award at congress and we couldn’t have done it without all the support from our amazing veterinary nursing team. We want to say a huge thank-you to them all.”
