Methadone and its role in pain management will be the focus of a session hosted by Dechra Veterinary Products at this year's BSAVA Congress.
Veterinary professionals attending Congress are invited to attend the expert-led session entitled ‘The Practical use of Methadone in Pain Management’ presented by Senior Lecturer in Veterinary Anaesthesia at the University of Bristol, School of Veterinary Science, Dr. Jo Murrell, BVSc (Hons), PhD, Dipl ECVAA, MRCVS.
The session will focus on the use of methadone for pain management in both cats and dogs. It will include when to choose methadone, what to expect when using methadone, the benefits of methadone and practical case study-based advice for vets and veterinary nurses to take back to practice.
Dechra Veterinary Products Brand Manager, Craig Sankey, said: “We are excited this year to host Senior Lecturer Dr Jo Murrell's exhibitor stream session at the BSAVA Congress.
“We are confident it will provide veterinary professionals with reassurance on the use of methadone by explaining the benefits of using full mu agonist opioids to provide analgesia, as well as encourage practices to ensure their pain management protocols are up to date.”
This year's BSAVA Congress will be held April 3 to 6 at the NIA and ICC in Birmingham, promising a wide range of world class lectures, an extensive exhibition and a vibrant social programme, all tailored to the small animal veterinary profession.
Dechra, which markets the UK's only veterinary licensed methadone, Comfortan®, will host the session on Thursday, April 3 at 14.50-15.50.
Dechra Veterinary Products can be found at stand 500 in the exhibition hall. More from
