Pets'n'Vets Recognised With Award For Rabbit Care
A leading vet group which treats pets across Glasgow has received a prestigious award in recognition of its expert care for rabbits.
Linnaeus-owned Pets’n’Vets, which has a network of six popular veterinary practices in and around the city, has received a silver award from the Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund (RWAF).
Pets’n’Vets registered vet nurse Julie Busby, who has an advanced certificate in treating small mammals, said the whole team was delighted with the achievement.
She said: “The RWAF is a highly respected, nationwide organisation dedicated to the welfare of pet rabbits, so this is an important recognition of our commitment to caring for rabbits.
“It highlights Pets’n’Vets as being a proactive, supportive and educated practice.
“We have implemented and adhere to our Standing Operational Procedures, which have been specifically made with rabbits in mind.
“These include late admission to the clinic, bringing in their own food and familiar items from home to reduce stress and make them more comfortable, and using a pheromone sprayed towel to help keep them calm and relaxed.
“Ultimately, the achievement allows us to display our hard work and dedication towards rabbits. It allows owners to see that we are adhering to key criteria in care and treatment, enabling us to provide the best care for their rabbits.
“This achievement is particularly important to me on a personal level, as I have a keen interest in small mammals.
“It has allowed me to pass on my knowledge, not only to clients, but also to my colleagues. So, I’m very proud of this achievement which recognises the hard work and dedication myself and others put into bettering our clinic and educating others.
“We are all aware there is a strict criteria to respect, ensuring we provide the best care we can for rabbits. We have vets, nurses and client care team members who all have a keen interest in supporting rabbits and their owners within clinic.
“We are available for regular veterinary consultations, including vaccinations and annual health checks, and undergo regular training to ensure we are all kept ‘in the loop’ regarding the most recent research.”
Pets’n’Vets has seven practices in the Glasgow area including Roundhouse Veterinary Hospital, Pets’n’Vets Crookfur, Hairmyres Vets, Queens Park Vets, McDonalds Scotstoun, McDonalds Queen Margaret Drive and Blantyre Vets. For more information, visit: https://www.petsnvets.org.
