Shires Vets Investing £250,000 In New Stafford Practice
A leading Staffordshire vets has been given the go-ahead to build a new £250,000 practice in the county.
Shires Vets is opening a sixth site in Stafford to sit alongside its existing practices in Stone, Eccleshall, Gnosall, Loggerheads and Stoke.
The new facility at Stafford Technology Park will feature three consultation rooms and two theatres and will be similar in size to Shires’ existing companion animal site at Stoke.
Plans for the general practice surgery, which will cater for small animals, were formally approved at a recent meeting of Stafford Borough Council’s planning committee.
The practice will complement Shires’ existing facilities, which cater for pets, farm animals and equine clients across the county.
Jess Hulme, clinical director at Shires Vets, said: “This is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time so we’re naturally delighted we’ve been given the go-ahead.
“We already have a well-established base of clients in Stafford so it will be much easier to serve them all once the new practice opens its doors.
“We’ve been serving the Staffordshire community and the surrounding counties for more than 70 years and these exciting plans are a continuation of that.
“We’re delighted to be continually investing in the local community as we continue to grow.”
Shires is benefiting from being part of the Linnaeus Group, one of the UK’s leading veterinary service providers.
Linnaeus has an ongoing investment programme of £10m across its growing number of practices within the group, including practice expansions, investment in new state-of-the-art equipment and in expanding the number of vet and nurse professionals.
