Nicola Clark from Veterinary Vision in Penrith is tackling the Lake District Ultra Challenge.
Veterinary Professional Eyes Ultra Challenge To Help Mum
An operations manager from a leading Cumbria animal hospital is trekking 100km through the Lake District for a cause close to her heart.
Nicola Clark, from Linnaeus-owned Veterinary Vision in Penrith, is tackling the Lake District Ultra Challenge over two days in June.
She will be raising money for Alzheimer’s Society because of the help and hope it has given to her mum who lives with dementia, plus assistance to those who are close to her.
Nicola said: “I am tackling the 100km challenge to help people like my mum and the Alzheimer's Society who provide invaluable support.
“My mum is still with us but in terms of ‘being mum’ she is very much gone but I’m grateful to still have her here considering that there are so many that don’t.”
The Lake District Ultra Challenge route starts in Kendal on June 8 and takes in some stunning scenery along Lake Windermere and Ambleside, also including high passes, nature reserves and forests, before heading back to Kendal.
Nicola, who has previously completed 100km ultra challenges on the south coast and in the Cotswolds, as well as a 50km challenge twice in Windsor, added: “I’m really looking forward to putting my best foot forward in the Lake District Ultra Challenge.
“It won’t be easy but it takes in some breathtaking scenery which will act as a motivation to reach the finishing line and raise as much money as possible for a very worthy cause.”
