Virbac Joins ESCCAP As A Donor
Virbac has signed up to support the European Scientific Counsel for Companion Animal Parasites (ESCCAP) UK and Ireland.
ESCCAP is an independent, not for profit organisation, which provides practical advice to veterinary and animal care professionals and pet owners in order to protect companion animals from parasitic infections and to minimise the risk of their transmission between animals and humans.
Virbac is a world leader in parasitology with a comprehensive product range for companion animals. Its key products, including the award-winning household flea spray Indorex®*, broad-spectrum wormer Milpro® and prescription-only parasiticide Prinovox®, feature augmented reality technology on their packaging, offering additional resources and product information to owners. The recently launched initiative, Zero Tolerance, encourages veterinary practices to tailor parasite control regimes to meet the needs of individual pets.
Commenting on its support for ESCCAP, Kate Woolley, Parasiticides Product Manager at Virbac, said: “ESCCAP carries out vital work, bringing the latest thinking in parasite control to the veterinary profession and educating pet owners as to the potential health risks of parasitic infection, not only to their pets but potentially to family members. We are delighted to support its work in 2017.”
Ian Wright, Head of ESCCAP UK and Ireland, added: “Increased pet travel and a milder climate mean that UK pets and their owners face increasing exposure to parasites and parasitic disease. We have planned a programme of activity to raise awareness of these risks, to give practical parasite advice and to increase cooperation across industry for the next 12 months and beyond. While we are completely independent, we would not be able to carry out this work without the valued support of our sponsors and donors. We look forward to working with Virbac’s parasitology team during 2017.”
Founded by a veterinary surgeon, Virbac is dedicated to supporting the veterinary profession through the development of innovative products and services, which help animals to lead longer, healthier lives. One of the largest independent veterinary pharmaceutical companies in the world, its wide product portfolio includes many market-leading and award-winning products for large and small animals.
