Virbac has donated a range of companion animal products to a clinic being run by fourth year veterinary students from the University of Edinburgh's Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies to care for animals owned by homeless or vulnerably housed people in the city.  The first All4Paws Clinic took place on Saturday 5 March 2016 at the Fort Community Centre in Edinburgh.  Six people attended the clinic with their dogs. Each animal was given a health check by a student under the guidance of a qualified vet, before being vaccinated and given appropriate treatment. Animals were also provided with winter coats, leashes, toys, treats and food.

Biana Tamimi, a fourth year student at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, who helps to co-ordinate All4Paws, said:  "We aim to provide those who have very few options for their pets with the best care possible.  Their pets are just as loyal, as loving and supportive of their owners as any others so we felt it was absolutely essential to create a clinic dedicated solely to them.

"We were extremely pleased at how our first clinic went. We were not expecting many people to attend because we understand that gaining the community’s trust requires a bit of time. We know that, as the word spreads, more will come next time. We were thrilled by how smoothly everything went and that we were able to offer a small vet practice completely run by students. We think that those who came with their pets left feeling supported and relieved that a service exists to help them look after their much loved companions."

Simon Boulton MRCVS, Head of Marketing (Companion Animal Business Unit) at Virbac, said:  "With the launch of All4Paws, Biana and her colleagues are extending the hand of friendship and support to homeless people in Edinburgh and to their pets who share their tough life on the streets and provide vital companionship. We were delighted to support them by donating vaccines from our Canigen range; our EpiOtic ear cleaner and parasite control products, including Effipro and Milpro to them for their first clinic."
