Paragon Veterinary Referrals earns prestigious veterinary award.
Yorkshire Animal Hospital Earns Prestigious Veterinary Award
An award-winning Yorkshire animal hospital has further added to its trophy cabinet by winning another top veterinary accolade.
Linnaeus-owned Paragon Veterinary Referrals in Wakefield has been given the Antimicrobial Stewardship Award (AMS) from RCVS Knowledge.
The highly-regarded Knowledge Awards aim to recognise those individuals and teams who are driving continuous improvements in responsible antimicrobial use and are open to anyone who works in the veterinary industry.
Paragon’s team effort was recognised as it focused on the protection of critically-important antimicrobials through an antimicrobial stewardship team, creating guidelines based on the ‘plan, protect, prevent’ mantra, together with running in-house CPD.
Furthermore, the Paragon team found improvements in prescribing culture, communication and a more open environment when discussing the appropriate use of antibiotics.
Paragon’s clinical director, Sophie Adamantos, said: “Our Antimicrobial Stewardship Team has worked tirelessly across various areas to improve responsible antimicrobial use, so I’m delighted that their efforts have been recognised by their industry peers.”
Winning the coveted award means recipients will have the opportunity to work with RCVS Knowledge to promote and share their work in antimicrobial stewardship.
Paragon provides expert care in anaesthesia and analgesia, cardiology, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics and soft tissue surgery.
