Independent Vetcare has appointed RVN Liz Cox to the newly created role of Group Veterinary Nursing Advisor.

Liz will work closely with the current team of Group Veterinary Advisors in order to provide support to Registered Veterinary Nurses and drive their utilisation within the group. IVC’s ethos is to provide exceptional clinical and client care, and they recognise how RVNs are instrumental in achieving this, whilst aiming to maximise their opportunities for career progression and job satisfaction.

“It is an exciting time for the veterinary nursing profession now that they are recognised as professionals in their own right. There are also an ever-increasing number of RVNs in practice with potential future development of the role in the pipeline. I am looking forward to working with IVC as a forward thinking, progressive group to help nurses develop and lead their role and career,” comments Liz.

As well as considering the RVNs within the group, IVC are pleased that Liz will continue to work closely with external organisations such as the RCVS and BVNA to drive the future of Veterinary Nursing. Liz has a wealth of experience in this area; she is the Senior Vice Chair of the RCVS VN council and sits on multiple working parties, including the VN Futures project.

“IVC are firmly committed to developing veterinary nurses as a major and vital part of the veterinary clinical team. We see Liz as the ideal candidate with her huge wealth of experience to lead our veterinary nurses into the future of veterinary medicine. IVC are proud to be leading the way in nurse development and the future of the professional clinical team.” – John Dinsdale, Chief Veterinary Advisor.

IVC runs over 900 surgeries across 8 countries in Europe, with 620 in the UK, and currently employs over 1800 vets and 2500 nurses in the UK. Developing the nursing profession is something IVC is committed to achieving as part of our strategy to be an employer of choice in the veterinary sector.
