IVC Evidensia has announced a landmark charity partnership with WECare Worldwide, a UK-registered charity and Sri Lankan NGO dedicated to providing life-saving veterinary care for the country’s three million street dogs.

This collaboration forms part of IVC Evidensia’s Positive Pawprint strategy, which harnesses its global network to advance animal welfare initiatives worldwide.

To date, WECare has transformed the lives of more than 29,000 street dogs, tackling urgent health issues, neutering, and reducing the spread of rabies, which remains endemic in Sri Lanka.

Founded in 2014 by British veterinary surgeon Janey Lowes, WECare Worldwide has grown into a team of over 70 veterinary professionals and volunteers, delivering emergency care at its hospital, and sustainable population control through its Catch-Neuter-Vaccinate-Release (CNVR) programme.

With plans to launch a second mobile CNVR unit in 2026, WECare aims to treat an additional 13,000 animals next year alone, ensuring care meets international surgical and welfare standards.

Through this partnership, IVC Evidensia will play an active role in supporting WECare Worldwide’s mission. The group is donating essential veterinary kit and equipment, including neutering kits to the value of approximately £25,000.

IVC Evidensia has also used its extensive supplier network to make medical supplies more affordable, and shared its clinical and technical expertise to strengthen on-the-ground capabilities.  This includes facilities advice on developing WECare’s training centre which will form part of the hospital they are building.

In addition, IVC Evidensia will help drive education initiatives across Sri Lanka, ensuring that knowledge and best practices reach local communities and veterinary teams.

Simon Smith, Group CEO of IVC Evidensia, commented:
“Our international scale gives us a unique position to support WECare. We can provide access to a huge network of expertise and buying power that will help towards their mission of sustainable growth and reaching ever more animals in need.

“Janey’s story and what she has already achieved is truly inspiring. I’m looking forward to seeing how we can help her and her team continue to improve animal welfare in Sri Lanka.”

Janey Lowes, Founder and CEO of WECare Worldwide, added:

“We are thrilled to be IVC Evidensia's newest charity partner and are excited to come together to not only provide vital veterinary care to the millions of street dogs to Sri Lanka day-in, day-out, but also to ensure that the highest standard of veterinary care is offered to roaming animals.

“At WECare we believe in equality of care whether owned or street, and with the support of IVC Evidensia we’ll be able to roll that out to even more animals in truly desperate need.”

WECare’s work has attracted global attention, including two features on Ben Fogle’s Lives in the Wild documentary series. Ben recently became the charity’s first patron and hosted an event in London in August 2026, where he interviewed Janey about her extraordinary decade of work. IVC Evidensia colleagues attended to celebrate the new partnership and hear Janey’s inspiring journey first-hand.
