One of the UK’s leading veterinary groups has seen six of its associates admitted to the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Fellowship for 2022.

Five Linnaeus associates have been admitted for their meritorious contributions to clinical practice, while a further Linnaeus associate has been admitted for meritorious contributions to the profession.

The Fellowship aims to advance veterinary standards by providing a resource of independent knowledge to the profession and, of the total 31 fellowships awarded, the six successful Linnaeus applicants make up 20 per cent of the year’s intake.

Adam MugfordAmanda Paul and Colette Jolliffe, from Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists in Hampshire, have all been honoured with the award of fellowship for meritorious contributions to clinical practice.

Adam is an RCVS specialist in emergency and critical care who helped launched Anderson Moores’ full-time ECC service when he joined the hospital last year.

Amanda is head of internal medicine at Anderson Moores and an RCVS and European specialist in small animal internal medicine. She moved to the UK from Australia in 2016, when she joined the team at AMVS.

Colette is an RCVS and European specialist in anaesthesia and analgesia, and a member of the Examination Committee of the ECVAA.

Abby Caine, RCVS and EBVS specialist in veterinary diagnostic imaging at Dick White Referrals, in Cambridgeshire, has also been honoured for meritorious contributions to clinical practice, as has Debbie Gow, RCVS and European specialist in veterinary dermatology from Veterinary Specialists Scotland in Livingston.

Meanwhile, Sam Joseph, who earlier this year was appointed clinical director at Village Vet’s Hampstead hospital in Belsize Lane, London, has been honoured for his meritorious contribution to the profession.

Sam, who has also worked for another Linnaeus-owned practice in London Vet Specialists, is co-founder of the charity StreetVet, which provides free, accessible veterinary care for pets belonging to the homeless.

Professor Séverine Tasker, chief medical officer at Linnaeus, congratulated the new fellows and said the recognition highlighted the exceptional level of skill, expertise and commitment amongst associates at Linnaeus.

She said: “Huge congratulations to our six associates on being admitted to the RCVS Fellowship.

“It is a fabulous achievement that they should all be very proud of and a brilliant way to recognise their huge contributions and commitment to clinical practice and the profession.

“For Linnaeus, delivering on our purpose to create a better world for pets is as important now as it has ever been and, as our associates have shown with their success, we will endeavour to continue to set the standard in veterinary medicine, research and care provision.”
