Nurse Academy Launched By Independent Vetcare For Newly Qualified Nurses

Independent Vetcare is committed to Nurse Development and 2017 is host to the launch of the IVC Nurse Academy.
The Nurse Academy provides a unique opportunity to join a supportive network of newly qualified RVNs with a structured 12-month CPD programme. The Academy offers outstanding benefits of over 100 hours of CPD (worth over £2,000) and 12 CPD days.
The engaging, varied programme offers quarterly CPD sessions accompanied by unlimited e-CPD, BVNA membership, attendance at Europe’s largest sole Veterinary Nurse Congress, an allocated in-practice nurse mentor and enhanced career progression support.
With the support of veterinary companies such as Bayer, CPD providers and the RCVS, a pilot programme was launched in September 2016 with great success. Joanne Barrett from the Vet Hospital in Plymouth is one of the Academy Nurses from this intake.

As part of Independent Vetcare’s ongoing investment in their veterinary nurses, they offer all their newly qualified RVNs a place on the IVC Nurse Academy. With intakes in March and September each year, IVC ensure this opportunity is available within 6 months of entering the RCVS Veterinary Nurse register.
Jen Clarke BSc(Hons) RVN is Independent Vetcare’s Nurse Development Manager and established the Nurse Academy, says “Stepping into the infamous ‘greens’ and fixing on that new RVN badge can be a daunting process for newly qualified nurses and it is essential that we support our nurses at this time.
